Catch Up & Revision Tips! ♡
I know my blog is not going to go very far and only a small proportion of people actually read my long rambles and terribly written quick-ish posts, but I feel very bad for not uploading in a while - my last post being posted on the 22nd May 2014, which to me seems like a while ago! I thought that I would explain my absence which you could probably tell by the title;I have been quite busy, particularly with upcoming tests/exams for the end of year grades ect. and changes for next year which for me will be my GCSE stage *insert HUGE panic face* Another reason is my lack of motivation. I have no idea what to post anymore and whenever I do, it does take a lot of effort and for something so minor, I have had those negative thoughts such as 'what is the point' and 'nobody cares about this kinds of stuff anyway' and even 'why am I doing this anyway? Is this going to get anywhere?'. Only until recently, have I decided that you know what, I am going to just do whatever I feel like doing, even if my anxiety inside me tells me 'NO don't do this', I am just going to ignore it and continue writing whatever it is; letting my feelings out really does make me happy and is why I am writing this hugely random rant with you lovely viewing people.
Anyway, so I'm back and because I want there to be a point to this post, I am going to be sharing with you on this wonderful *insert time of day IF anyone is reading this at a specific time* time some of my revision techniques and tips, whether it is an actual GCSE/A-Level exam, an end of year sort of exam/test or just to sum up what you have learnt in a certain subject that you just feel like recapping, follow along with these ever-so simple tips for success tested out my me! (I apologise dearly for that MA-HOO-SIVE sentence, it is one of my weaknesses in English as pointed out numerous times by my English teachers).

*I found this image on Google Images, if it is yours I apologise in advance because if I'm honest, I really couldn't be bothered to take a snap of one of my exercise books plus my books are a complete mess anyway and would rather not post it all over the web.
1) Find a comfy/quiet place to revise
To start off, you need to be comfortable in whatever environment you are in, for instance if you are outside, make sure you are comfy and the surrounding nature is not distractive, or if you are on your bed, have a comfy cushion so your back does not ache, swap postitions if necessary. Make sure you are in comfy clothes that will also make you more than ready to revise and so you not fussing on that really annoying ichy school jumper.
2) Avoid distractions
It is always tempting to pick up your phone and just have a little quick look at a message from a friend, a follow on Instagram ect. but that will not only lose your focus but also waste time that you could have had to revise - you can always check that message later on! Imagine how frustrated you may be, if a question comes up on that one little section/topic that lost your focus and you can't answer it. If you must, lock your phone or ask your parents to hide your phone somewhere, so that you can concerntrate more. Also, the
3) Make notes/cards/ whichever way you prefer to revise
One thing that I have learnt from previous tests, is that reading your exercise book/revision guide/website from cover to cover does not help at all! Only around 10% of the stuff you read you will remember the next day, and it decreases each day that goes by no matter how often you read it, it is definitely not the way that teachers will recommend that you revise. Instead, make some cards i.e a definition of the word so that you can learn that defintion and it will stick to your brain, or a mind map of things you already know about the topic, or colour co-ordinating it by how much you understand it and what you can work on - even simple things like that will really help and it is the much prefered way to revise a topic, as nagged by teachers.
4) Have a break in between
This only really applies for those who are revising for a big exam such as a GCSE, however you do need a break in-between those long hours you spend revising and it will also put you in a better mood, I can assure you. Sitting for hours on end can be tiring and stressful, but if you plan your revision rountine, you can still spare some time to relax, eat, do a hobby i.e sport, insturment, blogging ect. At the end of the day, it is your time and it is very understandable having a little break just to clear your head (not completely!) and relax - Everybody and I repeat EVERYBODY has/deserves a break after working so hard!
So those are my tips on having successful revision! If these tips have helped then let me know - I will feel so happy and like I have accomplished something wonderous if I have helped you out just by some simple, yet effective tips! I have made these up as I went along; if I missed stuff out then add in to your routine.
Have a good week!
